STARS is an air ambulance service that provides critical emergency medicine and rapid transport to those who might not otherwise have access to timely, vital care across Western Canada. STARS reaches remote facilities, rural communities, recreational sites, secluded backcountry areas, and often isolated incidents. Formed in 1985, the STARS fleet has since grown from one helicopter to 11, now carrying out approximately 3,000 missions annually, averaging eight per day. STARS also offers world-class education and training to health-care professionals and first responders, coordinates tens of thousands of emergency calls every year, and provides site registration and monitoring for industry partners.
